Ten Kavod – Care with Dignity
United Hatzalah’s Ten Kavod (“Care with Dignity”) program addresses the growing crisis of neglect among Holocaust survivors and vulnerable elders. Launched in 2013, this initiative now operates in over 33 cities, with approximately 700 trained volunteers serving more than 720 elderly beneficiaries.
Volunteers undergo an exhaustive 44-hour training course to perform weekly home visits and monitor vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, oxygen saturation), identifying early warning signs such as dementia, poor nutrition, or injury.
These visits offer more than medical care—they bring companionship, help with navigating health services, and support using digital systems, gently breaking isolation and restoring human connection.
Volunteers like Vicki Tiferet go above and beyond—helping with apartment cleanups, groceries, and tests—all free of charge to participants. Their compassionate presence both saves lives and renews hope.
Your donation helps fund training, lifesaving equipment (oxygen tanks, defibrillators, trauma kits), and coordination—so that these vital wellness visits can continue reaching elders in need.
By supporting Ten Kavod, you help create a nationwide safety net that delivers both preventive care and dignity. Each visit is an act of kindness—and every contribution makes it possible.
